Hepatitis C: From Research to Cure (23 June 2016)

On 23 June 2016, the University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) hosted a unique event for people diagnosed with hepatitis C as part of the Medical Research Council's (MRC) Festival of Medical Research, with support from Hepatitis Scotland.

During this event, we offered patients diagnosed with hepatitis C the opportunity to meet with some of the world-leading researchers working on hepatitis C research in Glasgow.

This was a unique opportunity for patients to learn about the key areas of research and about the milestones and discoveries that have led to breakthrough treatments.

35 patients attended the event, which was broken up into two half-day sessions. The sessions included an exclusive tour of the CVR's world-class research facilities, as well as presentations, workshops and discussions covering topics such as treatment breakthroughs, vaccination development and resistance to treatment. Patients were given the opportunity throughout the day to ask the scientists questions and to learn about the research carried out on the hepatitis C virus.
