Hepatitis C

The Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) is a major cause of liver disease. A person can be infected with hepatitis C for many years without having any symptoms. If left untreated, hepatitis C can eventually progress to cause serious liver damage. In Scotland, it is estimated that approximately 37,000 individuals are chronically infected with Hepatitis C.

Today’s treatment works well and gives people at least a 95% chance of clearing the virus completely, and with fewer side effects than previous treatments.
